Grandpa’s Specialty, Blackberry Apple Crisp, is a heartwarming dessert made with an enticing mix of blackberries and apples, topped with a delightful crispy oat topping. This traditional dish is perfect for family gatherings, holidays, or just a cozy night in. The recipe allows for variations as other fruits like strawberries, raspberries, or rhubarb can be substituted. One tip is to ensure the apples are tender to know when the dish is perfectly baked.

  • 2 quarts, 1 cup blackberries

Combine blackberries and apples in a glass baking dish.

Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. With a fork, then fingertips, blend the butter into the flour mixture to form coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over fruit.

Bake at 350F for 45 minutes until apples are tender.
