Double Fudge Chocolate Cake (x0.5 scale)

A great birthday cake for chocolate lovers

Scale: x0.25 | x.5 | x1 | x1.5 | x2 | x3 | x4

  • 1 (51 g) large egg
  • 12 cup (100 g) white granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp (14 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 12 cup (104 g) vegetable oil
  • 14 cup (32 g) cocoa, packed
  • 14 cup (57 g) buttermilk
  • 12 tsp (2 g) vanilla extract
  • 1 (51 g) large egg

  • 1 Tbsp (14 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 12 cup (104 g) vegetable oil
  • 14 cup (32 g) cocoa, packed
  • 14 cup (57 g) buttermilk
  • 12 tsp (2 g) vanilla extract

Beat in order, adding ingredients one at a time

  • 1 cup, 2 Tbsp (141 g) all-purpose flour
  • 12 tsp (5 g) baking soda
  • 12 tsp (4 g) baking powder
  • 1 cup, 2 Tbsp (141 g) all-purpose flour
  • 12 tsp (5 g) baking soda

Sift together and add to liquid mixture

  • 12 cup (118 g) water, boiling

Fold in boiling water

Place mixture in two prepared, round 9” cake pans.

Sprinkle with ½ cup chocolate chips.

Bake for 25 minutes.
